Mission of Mercy provides free dental and hearing services to those that are in need of care and typically do not have insurance.

October 17, 2026 SURE Fall Foliage Train Trip (17-Oct-2026)

Our seventh annual Fall Foliage one-day train trip has been set for Saturday, October 17 to Cumberland MD. We will board the train at the station there for a 4-1/2 hour round trip to Frostburg MD on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad behind steam locomotive No. 1309, which is the largest regularly operating steam locomotive in the US. There is a 90-minute layover in Frostburg, MD.

There is a complimentary shuttle service to the town above with shops, cafés, and restaurants. The Thrasher Carriage Museum is across the street from the Frostburg Depot and offers free admission with a train ticket. One can also watch the steam locomotive being reversed on the turntable for the return trip.

A motor coach has been reserved for the round trip departing from Monroeville, PA at 8:00 am. The motor coach will stop at a restaurant near Cumberland on the return trip to Monroeville. Anticipated return in Monroeville is around 8:00 pm.

The cost is $75 per person which includes round trip motor coach transportation from Monroeville and the train ride. The pick-up location will be at the former Westinghouse Energy Center site located at 4350 Northern Pike in Monroeville.

Please note that there will be no breakfast stop due to the early departure and travel time. So please plan for your breakfast accordingly.

Initial registration will be limited to SURE members and one guest each. If a SURE couple is bringing 2 nonmember guests, each SURE member must register separately and include one guest on each registration. Advance registrations are required since SURE has a limited number of tickets and the entire train is sold out. A wait list will be maintained if that number is exceeded.

For those that might find it more convenient to join the SURE group at the train station in Cumberland, tickets will be available for $42 a person. Please drive to and park at the station located at 13 Canal Street, Cumberland, MD. Please arrive by 10:30 am and meet the SURE group at the T. A. Nelson motor coach.

NOTE: Refunds for cancelations can only be considered up to October 1, 2026 (but only if a replacement can be found on the wait list) since SURE must make nonrefundable final payments to the coach company and railroad in advance.
